Co2 Laser Resurfacing

Co2 laser is performed to treat a wide range of skin concerns including fine lines, wrinkles and skin laxity.

Ablative lasers work by removing the thin outer layer of skin (epidermis) and heating the underlying skin (dermis).

The CO2 laser emits light at the 10,600 nm wavelength.
This wavelength is strongly absorbed by tissue water. This limits the residual thermal damage. Co2 lasers also cause immediate contraction of the ablated areas by denaturing existing old collagen fibres in which stimulates new collagen - and continues to create new collagen well after the procedure.
