Dermapen 4 Skin Needling

The DermaPen4 glides over the skin creating millions of fine, vertical fractional channels up to 104% faster than other micro-needling devices. These channels can carry up to 80% more topical nutrients deeper into the skin.

The micro-injuries trigger a natural process of repair, increasing the production of collagen and elastin and visibly improving a wide range of skin concerns resulting in a firmer, tighter and more youthful-looking complexion.

Skin Needling can be used to minimise scarring, pore size and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Dermapen4 Skin Needling can also be performed with Dermaceuticals MG Meso Infusions to further enhance results for anti-aging, hyperpigmentation and scarring.

What is Skin Needling?

During your appointment, your skin is cleansed and disinfected. The areas of treatment will be determined and photographs of these areas will be taken.
Topical Anaesthetic is then applied by a Registered Nurse to the skin for up to 30 minutes.

Skin Needling is then performed on the treatment area whilst using Hyaluronic Acid gel or an optional MG Infusion.
During the treatment you may feel a mild sensation however in most cases the treatment is pain-free.

Immediately after the procedure and whilst these micro channels are open, a customised cocktail of Dermaceuticals serums are applied to the skin, giving your skin a deeper boost of active ingredients to depths they can’t usually penetrate to when applied topically.

A soothing sheet-mask is then applied to aid in inflammation and provide hydration to the skin.

Zinc based SPF is applied to the skin & is now available in a full coverage tint which is specifically formulated to apply directly post skin needling.

What does the treatment involve?

Depending on the specific skin concerns being treated, we generally recommend 3-6 Skin Needling treatments from 2-4 weeks apart.

How many treatments are required?

For skin types III+ or clients with concerns of pigmentation, the use of a tyrosinase inhibitors
(found in Retinol & Vitamin C) are recommended for 2 weeks prior to treatment - this will minimise any risk of post inflammatory hyperpigmentation and ensure that your cellular turnover is performing accordingly.

Cease Retinol use for a minimum of 3 days prior to skin needling.

Avoiding intentional sun exposure/tanning and wearing SPF+ daily is always recommended when performing collagen induction therapy.

How to prepare for Skin Needling?

What is the aftercare for Skin Needling?

Immediately post treatment the skin will appear ‘sunburnt’ due to the inflammation. The inflammation is essential to the creation of collagen and elastin so avoid using ice-packs or cooling the skin excessively.

A gentle skin care routine should be applied for 3-5 days post treatment and avoid exfoliation for 7 days.

Avoid any heat inducing activities for 48 hours post treatment.

Avoiding intentional sun exposure/tanning and wearing SPF+ daily is always recommended when performing collagen induction therapy.

Results

Although multiple treatments are recommended, skin needling provides fast and effective results after just 1 treatment.

Results will begin to appear within the just days after your first treatment, however for full collagen remodelling we allow 3 months to see your final result.

All patients will experience results throughout different timeframes and this is dependant on many factors, including the concern that was treated, the skin type and the individuals healing time and cell turnover.

Results from Skin Needling are permanent however as we continue to age and our collagen production lessens, it is still important to maintain good skin health & therefore retain your results.
